The second phase of Jakarta's Zero-Down Payment Housing Program has officially begun following a ground-breaking ceremony in East Jakarta last week.
Construction has begun on a new affordable housing project in Jakarta, with a ground-breaking ceremony held at the site of the development last week.
Comprising four towers of 850 units each, the planned accommodation is the second phase of the Jakarta Administration's Zero-Down Payment Housing Program, which aims to provide low-income earners with decent, comfortable and affordable housing.
It comes after a similar development was constructed in Nuansa Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta, which comprised a site area of 5,686-square metres.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan joined representatives from other parties involved in the project in Nuansa Cilangkap at Jalan Raya Cilangkap, Cipayung Urban Village, Cipayung, East Jakarta, on Thursday for the ceremony.
Governor Baswedan said in his speech that the project had complete facilities and was very livable.
"Today we want to provide an affordable housing program with a healthy living environment,"
"We also have a children's playground and an interaction area.
"The citizens will have a sense of equality with other communities who have a place to live through market or private mechanisms."
The project is being developed in collaboration with PD Pembangunan Sarana Jaya, PT Jakarta Propertindo and Perumda Pasar Jaya (developers), as well as PT Bank DKI (bank executer).
It is expected to be finished mid-2021.
